Beyond The Graves Waits Mist & Sea

My Thoughts

I really enjoyed this one. On the surface, it’s an atmospheric, supernatural mystery, but underneath it all, I think it’s a story about grief, loss, and finding where you belong. Harper has spent much of her life distancing herself from people and suppressing painful memories of her childhood. But when she arrives on Bell Island, pieces of her past begin to resurface, forcing her to confront the emotions she’s spent so long avoiding. Her story becomes intertwined with that of someone who lived long before her, and I loved how their experiences echoed one another across time. Both are navigating loss, searching for connection, and ultimately trying to find a place to call home. It’s haunting and emotional, but there’s something really beautiful about the idea that healing sometimes means facing the very things we’ve tried hardest to forget.
